width: 301px; float: right;">
When it comes to planning your child’s birthday parties, you’re very lucky to have so many unique and fun options to choose from. Places like Chuck-E-Cheese’s and miniature golf are always fun, and amusement parks and house parties get rave reviews but nothing really compares to having a birthday party at Speed Raceway! Below is a list of ideas for birthday parties in South Jersey and why we think they just don’t match up to go kart racing!

Video Arcades

Let’s face it, video arcades are a dying breed. Home gaming consuls have all but killed the arcade and because of that, they just aren’t that cool any more. While you may get a discounted rate for a party, you’ll be dealing with dark and dirty party rooms, shared arcade space and bored kids! Don’t turn your kid’s big day into a big disaster! Instead, try mixing up their options with Speed Raceway, where they can race their faces off with go kart racing and take breaks over by our own video arcade!

Mini-Golf

Everyone loves a little putt-putt golf, but is it really a party-worthy place? Unless your course takes reservations, you’ll most likely be dealing with the rest of the public who wants to try the back 9 meaning you’ll have to split up your group! Hope everyone in your party is ok with not getting to hang out with the birthday king or queen and hopefully you have enough adults to supervise those little guys, because we all know that kids aren’t always on their best behavior when there’s golf clubs, ponds and fake scenery involved. Why not bring them to our track where we can schedule a private event so that everyone in your group gets to race with the birthday boy or girl!

Amusement Parks

Roller coasters, fun houses and Ferris Wheels! A day at the theme park is a great way to make sure your kids are having fun, but at what cost? For one, there’s the literal cost which is insanely high these days while you also have to deal with seasonal operating schedules, enormous lines and the risk of losing a party member in the crowd. There definitely are quite a few costs involved… So instead take them to a safe and enclosed Speed Raceway track that’s open year-round, provides different price ranges and options for the party planner on a budget and can be booked privately so that you aren’t forced to wait in line with everyone else!

House Party

Sometime just having everyone over to your house is an easy and fun way to spend a birthday party, but have you fully thought through everything involved in having your kid’s friends over? First, you need to clean the house and “party-proof” your rooms for all the little kids hopped up on sugar. Then it’s time to start cooking dinner and snacks for everyone while also baking the cake! To think, all that effort is just the pre-party tasks! You still have to throw the party, pray nothing gets broken and then clean up the massive mess left behind by half a dozen or more party-crazed youngsters. Why not take the hassle out of it and host the next birthday parties in South Jersey at Speed Raceway? Private party rooms are waiting while our catering options can take care of your entire party’s food needs. Don’t forget about the energy they’ll be spending out on the track so you can take home one tired puppy at the end of the day!

When you really sit down and think about it, planning where your child’s birthday party will be isn’t that hard of a choice anymore. While there are going to be countless birthday parties in South Jersey, none will compete with those at Speed Raceway. We offer private parties with no waiting in lines, affordable racing packages, clean and secure party rooms, catering for your party, awesome arcade games and the safest and most fun go kart racing in town! Click below to find out more information about planning birthday parties.

<img id="hs-cta-temp-img-477991a1-cf4f-47b4-b953-bb1c68044a7f" src="https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/240134/477991a1-cf4f-47b4-b953-bb1c68044a7f.png" border="0" alt="birthday parties South Jersey" class="alignCenter" style="border-width: 0px; They race on similar but smaller tracks. They were first created in California in 1950s by Art Ingels.

Go Kart Experience

Go kart fans may easily get captivated by professional racing. After experiencing that kind of excitement, it can be hard to let go. You always want to go back for more. It gives both the drivers and the fans adrenaline rushes. And the best part is indoor go kart racing tracks allow you to race year round.

Accessibility

You do not need to be a professional to try go kart racing. Anyone can do it. And if you get good enough, you may even be able to turn pro. Tony Stewart, Kyle Petty and Darell Waltrip are some of the top track racing drivers who got their start on go karts.

Affordable and Safe

Go kart racing is inexpensive, and the electric go karts make them even safer, so moms don’t need to worry about their young ones getting hurt. An amateur driver can first use the closed chassis karts then advance to the open air ones. This will give them time to familiarize with the racing track while improving their driving skills.

With the many levels on hand, racers can move up tiers until they get to the professional level. This allows many people to engage in track racing but in a smaller way. Families, couples and even friends can always try it out.

Mechanical Make Up

Go kart engines are either 4 or 2-stroke models. 4-sroke engines are generally standard. 2-stroke engines are more powerful and manage up to 30 horsepower or more. Sprint karts can get up to about 60mph while more powerful karts can reach up to 90mph. Shifter karts normally use a manual transmission. They can reach top speeds of about 160mph.

The next big thing in go kart racing entails utilizing specialized racing tires. You can use slicks or rain tires. Slicks have no thread and are used on dry track. Normally, rain tires treads and they are used mainly during wet conditions.

Having fun on the track is what go kart racing is all about. So if you enjoy it as much as we do, you should pick a date to bring some friends to Speed Raceway for a fun night of racing.

Adrian DoggrellTue, 18 Mar 2014 22:05:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:379394http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/379392/Going-Pro-In-Go-Kart-Racing#Comments0Going Pro In Go Kart Racinghttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/379392/Going-Pro-In-Go-Kart-Racing
If you’re a racing enthusiast and hope to succeed in the sport sometime in the near future, follow these tips and you just might get there!

The driving techniques you use will heavily influence the outcome of your race, so you want to take extra care while molding your driving abilities to perfection. An important part of racing is making good decisions, and the best way to learn what to do is to practice.

To get started working on your driving, visit some indoor go kart racing tracks. Sure, you may think they are too slow for you, but go karts have evolved, and the current ones will blow your socks off. All of the famous racers started small, and look where they are now! Expanding your knowledge on the sport is just as important as the actual performing.

Once you feel you’ve covered the basics and are still interested in going pro, find a proper outdoor go kart racing circuit. Once you start driving the kart outdoors, you will see how much the practice improved your abilities. The indoor tracks are fun, but these are on a whole other level.

If you’re serious about becoming a professional driver then you must obtain a kart race license. This is a serious sport, and there are strict rules that must be obeyed. Not everyone can obtain this license. You will have to prove yourself. You must have to be of good health and possess excellent driving skills.

After you have acquired the license you can start racing on a beginner’s level. This will include carts that are simple to use and inexpensive, meaning you won’t have to spend a fortune to participate. The most important aspect of this category is the driver’s abilities. As time progresses and you get more comfortable, you will form connections that could possibly boost your career and make you stand out from the crowd. However, to reach this level you have to do a lot of practicing and research. As in any other profession, in order to be the best you have to work for it. Be sure to obtain all licenses and equipment necessary for the start of your professional career and enjoy the fun and thrill that comes with it!

Adrian DoggrellSat, 15 Mar 2014 22:40:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:379392http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/377055/3-Ideas-for-Killer-Corporate-Events#Comments03 Ideas for Killer Corporate Eventshttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/377055/3-Ideas-for-Killer-Corporate-Events
If you own or work for a corporation or have ever done so, you have probably encountered plenty of poorly planned “employee days.” Unfortunately, it is very often that very little about the actual event, other than the name, seems like it was designed with the employees’ enjoyment in mind. Instead, these events are often shoddily thrown together with very little planned out and even less productivity built into the framework of the activity. The worst part is your team doesn’t enjoy themselves or get any value out of the experience. Essentially, your team falls behind on work while your business wastes money on an event no one enjoys or benefits from. That is why we have put together these pieces of advice for throwing truly enjoyable and productive corporate events in Philadelphia.

Plan Accordingly

You would be astonished at how little planning goes into many of these events. For some reason, people rarely apply the same amount of thought into planning a corporate event than they would their own party. Often, this is because the person planning the event is either too busy to care or too restricted in budget or activities to feel a since of ownership over the event.

If you are in charge of planning your next team building event at work, put in the necessary effort and make plans ahead of time. This should give you the proper amount of time to make the necessary changes to the plans without having to make any last-minute changes that can be hard and/or annoying to accommodate.

Keep Meetings Short and Sweet

Corporate events in Philadelphia are no different than those held in other major cities. The purpose of the event is two-fold. First, your team is in need of a mental breather. For this reason, I think all corporate events should take place somewhere other than your office, but some people disagree with that. What people do not disagree on is that these ideally your guests will finish the event refreshed and recharged to get back to their regular duties. That typically doesn’t happen when the entire event feels like a long day of meetings at the office. So if you need to spend some of your event time taking care of important matters, be sure to make the presentations short and sweet, so your team can maximize their much-deserved R&R time.

Plan a Delicious Menu

This may be the most important advice when it comes to planning these types of things. Food makes or breaks an event, so if you want your team to truly enjoy themselves while also being receptive and focus to presentations and team building activities, make sure you provide some quality food. Also, more Americans are vegetarian, vegan, and lactose and gluten intolerant than ever before, so make sure you are aware of and cater to any dietary restrictions.

Adrian DoggrellThu, 13 Mar 2014 15:30:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:377055http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/376807/Seven-Steps-to-Finding-the-Perfect-Corporate-Events-Location-in-Philadelphia#Comments0Seven Steps to Finding the Perfect Corporate Events Location in Philadelphiahttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/376807/Seven-Steps-to-Finding-the-Perfect-Corporate-Events-Location-in-Philadelphia
Finding a perfect location for corporate events in Philadelphia can be a hard task, especially if you are looking for a specific venue that can match up to your business standards. There are several steps to consider when selecting the location to host your events.

Do Your Research

Before planning a corporate event, do the research on the locations available that host the event, This can be achieved by getting the location’s brochures. That information will help you determine whether the venue is a good fit for your business. You can also browse online and check the possible locations that advertise for corporate events. Hiring a corporate event organizer will also help to advise you on the perfect location for your event and may end up saving you some money. Finally, it is important to personally visit the available locations to check if the services advertised match up with the reality of the location.

Check accessibility

Once you have several options in mind, it is important to consider the accessibility of the location. You must remember that individuals from you team will have to commute to the location, so you should check the available transportation to the location. Security is also important, so you should consider safety when planning the timing of the event.

Size and accommodation

To find the perfect location for corporate events in Philadelphia, it is important to consider the size of the party that the location can accommodate. You may always want to make sure that the location has some private space where you and your team can relax during the event, as some places can be noisy and distracting.

Services offered by the hosts

You should expect to have a special treat planned for all the team members. This may include the transportation to the venue, but if the team will be using the company’s transportation, you should provide food and drinks. When finding a corporate event location, it is important to check on the services the host location offers.

Facilities and equipment

Find a location near Philadelphia that has all of your required amenities. If there will be several meetings, the host location should have a conference room that can accommodate the teams. It should also have a public address system for announcements and presentations, as well as a music system and WIFI for entertainment value.

Pricing and Budget

Last but not least, pricing will always be a big concern. Different venues have different prices for hosting corporate events. After you have considered the size and accessibility of a location, you should compare the price of the locations. Once you do that, you will have a much better idea of the actual value you are getting at the locations for you next corporate events in Philadelphia.

Adrian DoggrellThu, 06 Mar 2014 15:15:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:376807http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/376801/10-Undeniable-Reasons-People-Hate-Corporate-Events-in-Philadelphia#Comments010 Undeniable Reasons People Hate Corporate Events in Philadelphiahttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/376801/10-Undeniable-Reasons-People-Hate-Corporate-Events-in-Philadelphia
When organizing a corporate event in Philadelphia, the main factor to put into consideration is the nature of the event. You must consider whether it is one that involves a large audience like a conference or one that include fewer people like an employee gathering or client meeting. This factor will assist you in the selection of other important aspects like the venue, food and refreshments and AV equipment.

Like in any other large city, there are a high number of corporate events in Philadelphia every year. It is undeniable that many of these events are boring in nature and few people are fond of them. Here are the main reasons that contribute to the bad name of corporate events:

The people you get to interact with at the event are the same ones you see at the office daily.

Your attendance at the event is mandatory.

Your behavior at the event will determine how people will treat you at the office.

The activities you undertake are predetermined by the organizers who do not always consider the participants’ opinions.

You don’t know whether to dress formal or casual.

The venues and/or activities are often lame.

The food provided by company may not be what you like.

You are enclosed in one area and not allowed to go leave until the event is over.

You don’t get to plan the party.

These events always seem to be a waste of money that you feel could have been given to you in the form of a bonus or a salary raise.

When organizing corporate events in Philadelphia, there are a few tips that may help you come up with an event that people will not hate.

Choose a location that suits the needs and preferences of the employees. It may be beneficial to select a venue that has or is near some fun activities to help entertain your participants when not focusing on work matters.

Seek the suggestions of the employees about food so as to cater for those on special diets or allergies.

Select fun and interactive activities that will make it easier for the employees to feel more relaxed.

Once you identify you preferred location, it is important to make advanced bookings as many end of the year times can be extremely busy. Making advanced bookings prevents last minute disappointments.

Adrian DoggrellTue, 04 Mar 2014 16:30:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:376801http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/333696/Modern-Go-Kart-Racing-Can-Be-So-Much-Fun#Comments0Modern Go Kart Racing Can Be So Much Funhttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/333696/Modern-Go-Kart-Racing-Can-Be-So-Much-Fun
My friends are always trying to get me to do lame activities. So I went there on my own to check it out, and it absolutely blew me away.

Go Kart Racing is Lots of Fun

You see, I grew up with the notion that go karts were lame and could only thrill children who had never actually driven a car. Fortunately enough for me, times have changed. I don’t know if I just wasn’t exposed to the best electric karts as a child or whether the electric go kart technology has made some leaps and bounds in the past fifteen to twenty years, but go kart racing at Speed Raceway was unbelievably fun. Their karts are fast, extremely fast.

These days the karts don’t look like the ones I remembered from my youth, basically a seat on top of a lawnmower. They look like miniature racecars. It is really cool. And even better, Speed Raceway exclusively uses electric go karts, so they are really quiet. You flip a switch and they are ready to go. Even more impressive, you press the gas pedal and you accelerate to top speed almost immediately. You don’t have to wait for this noisy and smoky machine to chug and churn its way to top speed. It is almost instantaneous with their karts.

I was talking with the employee who got me set up, and I told him I hadn’t been in a go kart in many years. He warned me it would be a different experience. I’m pretty sure I rolled my eyes thinking he was just hyping the experience, but it turns out he was totally correct. The acceleration makes all the difference because the tracks are so curvy that you are constantly letting off the gas to hit a sharp turn. Luckily, you are back going as quickly as you want to as soon as you hit the pedal, so you barely lose any speed. Speed Raceway isn’t messing around. Go kart racing at their facility is legit.

Group Events at Speed Raceway

Once I was able to confirm that the karts were up to grade, I had to check their ability to host groups. As it turns out, they do so very well. Apparently, and not too surprisingly, private events are a big part of their business, and I was able to tell why. They offer a great private room that can serve many purposes. Businesses can hold meetings in there in between races. Birthday partyers can eat their cake and ice cream in there. And private groups like us can use that room for our fantasy football draft. Everyone set up the long table, and we took turns writing our picks on the white board. It was great.

Speed Raceway offers bulk ticket discounts, so we were able to save some money when getting races for everyone. We showed up and did two races, and then we retired to the private room for the first half of our draft. After that, we took a break for two more races and then got back to it. After the last pick of the last round, we wrapped the night with two final races. It was amazing. We were able to work together and compete at the same time. We were able to be out in public while still having the comfort and safety of a private room. And all the while, the Speed Raceway employees couldn’t have been any cooler. They were nice and fun and happy to see us lightheartedly making fun of each other for stupid picks. (Tony Romo in the 2nd round?!? Way to go Scott…)

I was truly impressed with the whole experience. We all were, so much in fact that we booked next year’s draft that night. It was just the perfect situation for us. Now, I am not saying that it is guaranteed to be up your alley, but if you are looking for a convenient and exciting break from the normal monotony of life, give Speed Raceway a shot. Go kart racing at their facility is awesome, and they provide a ton of great options, so you can create whatever kind of group event you want.

Adrian DoggrellSun, 02 Mar 2014 15:21:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:333696http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/270345/Here-Are-Our-Favorite-Extreme-Events-Including-Go-Kart-Racing#Comments0Here Are Our Favorite Extreme Events, Including Go Kart Racinghttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/270345/Here-Are-Our-Favorite-Extreme-Events-Including-Go-Kart-Racing
Everyone loves to try something new and crazy from time to time. When you're a teenager growing up, you want to be daring and push your limits. Sometimes this can get you in trouble, but with an extreme sport, you can usually have fun and get a nice adrenaline rush without breaking the law. I've always been a big fan of trying new extreme adventures, so let me share a few of my favorites I've enjoyed over the years!

Skydiving - Everyone automatically has an opinion about skydiving. It's either, "I can't wait to do that" or "I'll never do that!" Not a lot of middle ground about jumping out of a plane, but I can assure you, the exhileration is unmatched by just about anything else. The professionals who operate skydiving businesses know the dangers and take every precaution to make sure you have the safest and craziest ride of your life. Not only will you remember the experience for the rest of your life, but you'll get some pretty amazing Facebook profile pictures on the way down. While you recreate a Bond movie scene. Or "Point Break."

Paintball - Definitely on a different spectrum than skydiving, paintball has always been one of my favorite activities. People are often scared to play because they don't want to get hurt, but I promise, it's not that bad. My first job at 16 was a referee at a paintball place, so I would get shot dozens of times a day, and after the first couple, you barely notice anymore. Paintball is a lot of fun and safe way to pretend to go to war against your buddies. With a wide variety of gametypes to play, like capture the flag and king of the hill, and plenty of different types of fields (inflatable cover, castles, forts, and nature), there is bound to be a setup that you will love. Get some glory stories and dominate your friends!

Go Kart Racing - This doesn't involve jumping out of a plane or getting shot by paint, so if you want a fun experience without much danger, go kart racing is the best choice. You can still dominate your friends and whip around the track at high speed! I've always enjoyed the different racetracks I've been on, but the best is an indoor go cart facility that can be open and enjoyed year-round, regardless of weather. If they have electric go karts, that's even better, because you still get the raw speed without all the fumes. I highly recommend heading to the track as soon as possible!

Between these three activities, you are guaranteed to have an awesome time. Nothing breaks up the daily routine of work or school like a skydiving, paintball, or a go kart racing trip. If you are in the Philadelphia or South Jersey areas, you should head out to Speed Raceway and get your adrenaline fix today!

Nathan MillerFri, 28 Feb 2014 15:00:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:270345http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/289801/Head-to-Speed-Raceway-for-Your-Next-Fraternity-Event#Comments0Head to Speed Raceway for Your Next Fraternity Event!http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/289801/Head-to-Speed-Raceway-for-Your-Next-Fraternity-Event
Fraternity events can get pretty messy sometimes. Having quite recently been in college and a part of one, I have seen some crazy stuff go down at poorly planned events. Lots of people think that throwing together an event at the last minute is the way to go, but that's how people get in trouble. Plan out an event and save your fraternity the hassle of throwing together something at the house last minute. So if you're looking for a great group event location, where's the best place?

Speed Raceway is the Philadelphia area's number one spot for all kinds of events. Your fraternity can rent out the facility, get private party rooms and race all day with a personalized go kart racing event. Bring in catered food and host a Parent's Weekend event, or impress potential pledges during rush week! The speedy electric go karts at Speed Raceway tear up the indoor track, so you'll enjoy amazing races no matter what the weather is like outside! Everyone loves a chance to beat their friends on the racetrack, and a high-speed race is definitely the safest option considering the trouble college kids can get in to.

Next time you are interested in hosting a fraternity event in the Philadelphia area, look no further than go kart racing at Speed Raceway. width: 302px; float: left;">We’re sure you’ve all heard some sort of argument over the different types of racing and vehicles. NASCAR is better than Formula1 or the other way around. Asphalt driving is much easier than off road courses. Electric karts are way better than gas powered. Whether you believe in one or the other for any of the arguments listed above, you’ll have to admit that there are some very interesting differences when it comes to the small word of auto racing, including go kart racing. We’re here to take a look at some of the more note-worthy differences and explain why proponents for each side believe they’re right.

Differences between Electric and Gas Powered Gokarts

When it comes to go kart racing, you really only have two options for the actual karts; electric or gas powered. Gas powered karts can boast higher speeds if properly tuned while fans of these cars also swear by their handling compared to electric, but in reality that also comes down to the upkeep and use of properly equipped karts. Electric powered karts are best known for their faster acceleration, more environmentally friendly power and a lack of exhaust allowing them to be driven on indoor tracks without causing drivers and spectators to grow nauseous from fumes.

Differences between Tracks

A major topic of discussion whenever NASCAR and Formula1 fans get together, different tracks mean very different things when it comes to racing. In our opinion, there’s really only 3 different kind of tracks for auto and go kart racing; a straight line drag race style, the oval and the road course. Each have their own unique attributes and style of racing necessary to succeed on them and each have very loyal fan-bases backing them.

Straight line

Known best for drag racing and The Fast and Furious, the straight line track is meant to showcase pure acceleration and speed in a car while neglecting the handling and overall turning abilities of the car. Fans of these types of tracks will tell you that it requires the drivers reactions at the start of the race to be incredibly fast and their shifting to be smooth and perfectly timed.

Oval

Almost every weekend you can turn on your television to find tens of thousands of fans crowded around an oval track to watch cars continuously make left turns, so it’s safe to say that there are a few fans of NASCAR’s oval track. While it may seem like these drivers are just keeping their steering wheels turned slightly to the left, there’s actually quite a lot more to it if you want to make a successful lap around one of these tracks. High speeds and bald racing tires lead to very little grip for drivers, forcing them to constantly be making minor corrections and maneuvers to not only gain positioning but also to avoid collisions on the track. Combine that with the constant decisions on when to pull into the pit for refueling and fresh tires during the hundred+ lap races and you have a very technical race on your hand.

Road Course

Made famous by Formula1 and utilized in most racing venues, the road course takes a long track and condenses it by mixing in tight turns with straight-aways. Cars need not only great acceleration but also strong handling and better gripping tires to be successful on these tracks while drivers must be able to hit the apex of turns perfectly and understand when to brake and accelerate at the right time in order to walk away with the best lap times.

Differences between Surfaces

No matter if you’re a World Rally Cross fan talking to a Formula1 fanatic or you’re just a big time racing enthusiast arguing over asphalt versus slick tracks, the surface definitely makes a difference when you’re racing.

Asphalt

The most commonly used surface for any type of racing, asphalt provides better grip for the wheels leading to tighter turns, faster races and more precise maneuvers during the race. NASCAR, Formula1 and most outdoor go kart racing tracks utilize this surface.

Slick Track

This style of track is most often used for indoor tracks and requires much more attention be given to tight turns as the wheels have much less to grip, leading to the act of drifting or just plain spinning out. Starting from a dead stop leads to less than stellar speeds initially while warm tires and continuous acceleration provide better speeds and times, again due to the lack of grip.

Off-road

World Rally Cross is best known for its off-road tracks made up of mostly dirt and gravel with the occasional puddle thrown in the mix. These tracks provide little traction for regular tires, are ever changing and require the attention and improvisation of the driver. No lap is truly the same and the right and speed coming into a turn is much more important than hitting the apex.

As you can see, there are many variations of car styles, track styles and even their surface. Each has their own specific fan-base that believes it’s the best way to race while each also has its skeptics pointing out their faults. In reality, the jury’s still out on which combination is the best for racing, and while we here at Speed Raceway believe that we’ve gotten our course, surface and go karts right, we understand that it’s all just personal preference.

<img id="hs-cta-temp-img-477991a1-cf4f-47b4-b953-bb1c68044a7f" src="https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/240134/477991a1-cf4f-47b4-b953-bb1c68044a7f.png" border="0" alt="go kart racing" class="alignCenter" style="border-width: 0px; Why throw a party if you aren’t going to have a good time. Many people forget this. They get so distracted by the guest list and all the things they want to include that they don’t focus on the most basic question: are people going to be having a good time? Forget the food. Forget the music, and, at least temporarily, forget the booze. You need to see if the basic idea of the party is a good one. And I can tell you that any event at a truly unique location for corporate events in Philadelphia will give you a great start.

Plan Your Party With Your Guests in Mind

Not every party is going to be the same. In fact, they should all be quite different. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. They all seem similar these days. The first step to throwing any great party is to understand your audience. Make sure that, whatever is going to be the central activity of your party, you have planned something that people aren’t already burned out on. Twenty year olds don’t like to stand around only playing beer pong, and adults don’t want every get-together to be a wine and cheese dinner party. You need to know what your friends will want to do, and you will need to know what they are already sick of. You should look for a location that is known to host corporate events in Philadelphia where your coworkers have a place to relax for a moment during an activity that takes them out of their comfort zone.

Tasty Food and Drinks Go A Long Way

The older we get, the more our bodies get into a rhythm. We need to eat regularly, and some of us need a drink at a certain point in the night. If you want your buddies to be able to leave all of their worries at home, you need to make sure you provide access to quality food and beer. I am not saying that just because you want to have friends over you are required to shell out for both of these things, but it is absolutely necessary to make sure you guests have access. I will say however that the best parties do provide booze and food, but so long as you simply provide the access, your party can be just fine.

Everyone Feels Cool in a VIP Room

When you are out partying with friends, it is always nice to have a private area where you can retreat with your group. In a club, this is called bottle service. At a professional basketball game, you could have your own box. If it is me planning this party, I would rent out the event room at the Speed Raceway indoor go kart track. This location is ideal because it is versatile. It comfortably hosts private parties, birthday parties, and corporate events in Philadelphia. You have the options of just racing with some friends, renting out the event room so your group has a place to relax while other people race, or simply renting the entire facility. If you have a big enough group, you should absolutely rent out the whole track because then you are free to customize the experience to your liking. You can have food catered and play your own music. You can take breaks from racing and have a dance party for a bit. It will be whatever experience you want it to be.

Everyone has different gifts. Some people are good at math. Some people can hear extremely well. Some people are gifted by being able to pick up on the feelings of those around them. If you are the party host, you should try to develop that trait. Try to focus in on what is makes people happy. It is your responsibility to create an environment where they are both relaxed and excited, which isn’t always an easy job. While there are tons of options around town where you can throw a great event, I would seriously recommend Speed Raceway because it is a seriously unique and exciting venue that your guests are sure to remember.

Adrian DoggrellSat, 22 Feb 2014 15:45:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:337703http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/374839/5-Locations-to-Host-Your-Next-Corporate-Events-in-Philadelphia#Comments05 Locations to Host Your Next Corporate Events in Philadelphiahttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/374839/5-Locations-to-Host-Your-Next-Corporate-Events-in-Philadelphia
As you know, Philaelphia is a one of the larger cities in the United States. With a metro population of over 1.5 million, there are countless businesses in need of fun and exciting corporate events. And with so many locations and activities available to satisfy that large number, it can be a daunting task to find the right one for your business’s next event. That is why I have chosen to create a list of some of the best locations to hold your next corporate events in Philadelphia. Whether it is for the annual party, a fun night out, or an awards ceremony, this list is sure to have a venue that would be perfect for your next event. (Note – This list is arranged by increasing casuality.)

Try the Down Town Club for an Elgant View

The Down Town Club is located on the entire eleventh flood of the hisoric Public Ledger Builder. Thanks to a recent renovation, the space can now accommodate up to 200 guests. The classic design and ornate details of the building combined with the breathtaking panoramic city views makes the Down Town Club an amazing place to throw your next event. But leave the jeans and tshirts at home for this one because anyone going to an event held in this beautiful location should wear their Sunday’s best.

Stratus Rooftop Lounge Is Full of Modern Class

If you are looking for a cosmopilitan location to hold your next cocktail oriented event, the Stratus Lounge is the place for you. It is located eleven stories about Independence Mall in the Hotel Monaco Philadelphia. It features two private enclosed pavillions, a large putdoor patio, and an indoor bar, for those pesky winter months. It can accommodate as many as 300 people, so as long as you don’t need a plethora of quality food at your event and don’t mind paying a little extra for the views, this may be just the place for you.

Have a Blow Out at Blo Out Bar

This one is primarily for the lady dominated corporate events in Philadelphia, unless your team’s gentlemen have particularly lavish heads of hair. Either way, Blo Out Bar is sure to impress those who enjoy the finer aspects of getting their hair done. This blow-dry salon hosts private events in its trendy yet feminine Rittenhouse Square location that boasts two private rooms and can accommodate as many as 75 guests for blowouts, cocktails, and makeup services.

Vote and Swallow at the Goat Hollow

Despite this section title’s terrible attempt at rhyming, this location really is quite wonderful. Goat Hollow is an American brasserie in the Mount Airy neighborhood. They take pub food and make it more than edible, it becomes craveable! The main level can accommodate up to around 100 guests, and the private dining area of the second story will comfortable seat 37. So whether you are just trying to plan a mixer with snacks and cocktails or have a full dinner in a private room, Goat Hollow is a wonderful location for your events.

Get your Adrenaline Pumping at Speed Raceway

The final location on the list by far the most casual. It is for those businesses that are sick of planning the same kinds of corporate events in Philadephia year after year. Just because renting out a premier rooftop lounge above a downtown hotel can be outlandishly pricey doesn’t mean your annual party has to be in the breakroom again. Well, that isn’t quite true yet, as I have only been to one of their weddings, but they are all getting engaged. I have been to my first bachelor party, and it was pretty great. It was in D.C. and extremely low-key. To me, it was almost perfect. But it got me thinking about what my perfect day would be. There would have to be food, and lots of it. There would be go kart racing, and there would be sports and beer of course…

Let the King Reign

If you are planning a bachelor party, the most important thing is that your bachelor thinks the night is fun. So before you talk to anyone else, confer with the man of the hour. Find out what he wants to do, and even more importantly, find out what he does not want to do. Make sure to ask what won’t be on the list because many bachelors may act indifferent to pretty much everything so long as the crew is together. And many bachelors won’t want to have to plan anything or make any decisions, but that does not mean they are going to love every idea. So just be sure to ask because nothing will kill your party buzz quicker than if the big man himself is uncomfortable.

Pull Out All of the Stops

When planning a bachelor party, it is easy to get overwhelmed by all of the possibilities. Sure it would be fun to catch an Avalanche game during the day, followed by dinner followed by going to a bar followed by going to a concert followed by going to a club, but that would simply floor your team. You need to be reasonable and selective when choosing the activities. Remember, this isn’t a bachelorette party. You don’t need to have every fifteen minutes of the day/night planned out. I would advise keeping it to a one activity maximum during the day if you want your team to be able to go hard that night.

My Local Party

If it were my bachelor party, I would hope it went something like this: we would arrive in the morning to our downtown Philadelphia hotel. It should be relatively nice, but it doesn’t half to be the Ritz-Carlton. I would prefer to spend the majority of our budget on the events instead of the hotel, but that is just me. I expect for all of us to have enough fun that we don’t even notice the quality of bed as we are passing out.

Our first activity would be heading to Speed Raceway for some high-intensity go kart racing. This will get everyone's heart pumping and in the right state of mind. After we get our fill of the track, we may try some local brewery tasting. This will get us ready for the rest of the night.

After a couple hours of some crazy fast go kart racing, we will have worked up an appetite that will only be satisfied by a delicious dinner at Stateside. After eating, we will retreat to the rooftop bar for some drinks before we head to the finale event, watching Nick Foles and the Philladelphia win a primetime game. After the game, we would head to Cooperage Wine and Whiskey Bar for a little bourbon and decompression.

At that point, my plans will stop. I expect to be fully partied out by that point, but who knows, maybe I will catch a second wind, and the guys can take me clubbing from there. If not, I won’t care because I will have just had a perfect day in Philladelphia.

Adrian DoggrellTue, 18 Feb 2014 15:15:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:340986http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/373782/What-NASCAR-and-Formula-1-Can-Teach-Us-About-Go-Kart-Racing#Comments0What NASCAR and Formula 1 Can Teach Us About Go Kart Racinghttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/373782/What-NASCAR-and-Formula-1-Can-Teach-Us-About-Go-Kart-Racing
First off, let me state that go kart racing is easy. It isn’t very difficult to sit in a chair, press the acceleration pedal and steer around the track. It is however quite difficult to be able to do so like a professional. As you probably know, racers aren’t rewarded for simply finishing a course. It is all about how you do so. How many turns did you enter and exit perfectly? How many straightaways did you capitalize on? How many seconds did you waste? For those of you that aren’t racing enthusiasts, you may not know the basic pieces of advice that we learn from observing professional NASCAR and Formula 1 racers. That is why I put together this list of tips to help you maximize your go kart racing skills. And for all of you that already feel like a professional, feel free to come in and try these tips out at Speed Raceway.

Posture and Positioning

Just like in professional racing, good posture is quite important. It will help your body react quickly and efficiently, and it will minimize your potential for injuries. But even more important than that is good posture will improve your ability to handle the kart. You want to sit up straight while keeping your arms nice and relaxed. Often, we see people who get very nervous and rigid. Avoid this at all costs because it is extremely important for your arms to make quick and precise movements when turning. Resist the temptation to learn forward towards the wheel or bounce the kart by jumping in the seat. Both of these actions will end up hurting your acceleration.

Enter Tight, Exit Wide

When watching professional racers address turns, you notice that they hold off entering the turn until the last possible moment. They do this to preserve as much speed as possible. Go karts are no different. When you enter a turn, you want to do so as late as possible. Entering tightly will allow you to exit the turn as widely as possible,

which will maximize your speed as you exit the turn.

Minimize Break Use

Professional racecar drivers often have to tap the breaks in order to avoid picking up to much speed. They drive at insanely fast speeds, so it is truly a safety concern for them. Go kart racing is much tamer in that regard. The karts start to slow down as soon as you let go of the acceleration pedal, so you don’t really have to worry about hitting the breaks at all. So long as you are paying attention to upcoming turns, releasing the pedal should be plenty of deceleration for you to safely navigate the turn.

Learn Your Specific Kart

As you probably realized after completing a few racers, no two go karts handle exactly the same. Some are slightly heavier. Some karts are newer. Other karts have tires in better condition. Each kart will have its own disadvantages, so it is important to learn those early. Pay close attention to your kart on the initial laps, so you can best determine how to approach each race. Also, you should remember that the act of racing will heat up your tires and make them grip better, so if they are slipping very badly at first, they should get better as they heat up.

We doubt that any of you need these tips, as you are all probably pros already. But at the very least, hopefully these tips help you enter the track with more confidence. Unless you want to shell out a lot for a party, you may need to put some thought planning a party that is both awesome and affordable. Luckily, the South Jersey area has lots of options for fun events for kids. Read below for some of my favorite ideas for affordable and yet totally enjoyable ways to throw your children the best birthday parties in South Jersey.

SHHHH, the Previews Are Starting!

There is almost nothing better than eating some birthday cake and immediately running and jumping into the pool. Unfortunately, it is winter, and there is way too much snow on the ground. So what is just as fun as a pool party and way less dangerous? A movie party is the way to go. Sure, we all have sleepovers and watch tons of movies, but this is way different. There is something magical about being in a theater and watching the lights darken and the previews start. Now, depending on the age of your little ones, finding a movie that appeals to them and you could be difficult, but that is a big part of child parties anyway. My advice is to go see a Pixar movie if the opportunity presents. Almost everything they do is an instant classic.

Racing in Style

Go kart racing has come a long way. New age go karts are way more advanced than they used to be. The electric powered go karts of places like Speed Raceway produce an insane thrill. You can throw out the notion that these things are only for the wee ones because a lot of their clientele are adults. It is so enjoyable getting into these little mini-racecars and whipping around turns. Because the karts are so low to the ground, the kart won’t roll over. At worst you might bump into a rubber railing or spin out after taking a turn too sharply. The racetracks also cater to parties, so you have the option of renting a room and catering food or drinks. It is truly amazing how exhilarating it can be to do a few laps. Every second on each turn matters, so time seems to slow down. You get into the zone and let everything else in your mind go. Once you finish you are left with a lot of adrenaline and a pure sense of joy. Speed raceway has go karts for kids and adults, so you can have fun at any age.

Let's Roll Dude

Bowling is classic. Bowling is almost always fun. If you can ignore the grimy floors, rented shoes, and seedy types of people that always seem to hang around bowling alleys, your kids are sure to have a blast with their friends. Bowling alleys are open year round and cater to birthday parties quite well, as it provides a large portion of their bottom line. The only real drawback is that bowling isn’t too exciting. If you love bowling and you do it often, you can certainly get into it. But if you are like most people who bowl maybe a couple games a year, chances are that it can get monotonous. You throw a ball. It rolls. Some pins fall down. Not too much is left up to the imagination. It is, however, consistent and cheap, and you can typically get everything you need in one place (even the alcohol for the parents.)

If your kid is having a party soon, I truly hope you chose one of these options. They are all fairly easy to plan, and they can all be a whole lot of fun. So if you are serious about throwing unforgettable birthday parties in South Jersey for your children without having to pay an arm and a leg, plan it around an activity that the will love, like going bowling or to a movie or taking your kids go kart racing.

Adrian DoggrellFri, 14 Feb 2014 15:45:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:371972http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/373093/5-Best-Mobile-Apps-for-Planning-Birthday-Parties-in-South-Jersey#Comments05 Best Mobile Apps for Planning Birthday Parties in South Jerseyhttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/373093/5-Best-Mobile-Apps-for-Planning-Birthday-Parties-in-South-Jersey
Can we all agree that planning a birthday party for children is way more work than it should be? Despite the fact that kids are small, it takes a lot of effort to put together a great party. Perhaps it’s the fact that children are very sensitive, and so it is important to have a birthday party for them each year. Your children have to go to their friends’ parties because otherwise they won’t go to your kid’s parties. It may seem like you and your children are constantly going to kid birthday parties, and the typical ideas can get worn out quite quickly. So if you want to actually make your kid’s party fun, you have to put in a lot of work, right? Wrong. The digital age offers us a few advantages that make planning a party much easier. Read on to see our list of the best smartphone apps to make the entire process much more enjoyable, so you can actually enjoy some go kart racing at Speed Raceway when big day rolls around.

Pro Party Planner

This app has party planning covered from beginning to end. It is perfect events large and small. It will allow you to everything from importing guest lists, delegate tasks and set reminders for dates. No longer are you forced to do and remember everything yourself. You have a busy life, and every day brings its own challenges, so you really don’t need to be responsible for remembering whether you asked someone to bring the chips. With Pro Party Planner, you will be able to check. You can even Facetime that person from within the app to make sure they are on top of it.

Pepperplate

Pepperplate is another great app for managing the food aspect of parties. And if I know anything about partying, I know that food is an incredibly important part, so pay attention. This app will allow you to organize recipes, create menus, plan meals, and make shopping lists. You can even import your favorite online recipes and use them to plan a personalized multi-course meal. However, if you are planning a party for a bunch of little kids, you may want to skip multiple rounds of food before the go kart racing, but to each his own.

Venmo

Venmo is an amazing app. It allows you an easy (and in most cases free) way to send and receive money. This can be great when you are hosting a party with a couple people and the costs will be divided. Never again will you simply have to wait hoping that everyone will remember to pay for their share. You don’t have to be that person constantly calling and reminding everyone. Instead, it is all electronic and incredibly fast. All you have to do is connect Venmo to your Facebook profile, and you will instantly be able to send and receive money from all of your friends. That way, a go kart racing birthday party shared between friends won’t result in one family avoiding the bill.

HeadsUp

If you haven’t played HeadsUp at a party, you should probably download it before your next one. This app is a game that has turned charades on its head. These days, you can just download the app and have multiple categories of charade topics at your fingertips. You don’t have to worry about trying to read people’s messy handwriting or coming up with examples. They will all be there, just waiting for your group to act them out.

Snapchat

Many of you have probably heard of Snapchat, but I am guessing you haven’t considered it in this context: It can be used to help keep your out-of-town family from missing out on family moments. As you have [probably encountered, once you start having kids, it gets extremely difficult to travel. Forget the Trust Falls.http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/338537/Planning-Corporate-Events-in-Philadelphia-Forget-the-Trust-Falls
Corporate events in Philadelphia are supposed to be fun. In fact, any team event that isn’t fun shouldn’t exist. Almost every day your team has to come into work and do the same things over and over. For this one day of rest, you should provide them with something fun, something new, and something totally out of the ordinary. So if you decide to truly give your team an unforgettable experience, take them go kart racing. Here are a few steps to help you throw a truly awesome corporate event.

Give Your Team an Unordinary Day

It doesn’t matter if you have the most creative and cohesive team in the world working for you. After enough time, any job gets boring. We all have tasks, and those tasks get repetative. Repetition over time can become mindnumbing, so you should plan an event where your team can have a thrill. Take them skydiving, or bunjejumping, or if you would rather keep it a litte less intense, you can always take them go kart racing.

Unless you don’t build the event around an exciting activity, the whole idea is a waste. So be sure to find an activity that is truly out of the ordinary, anything to completely remove daily tasks from the minds of your employees. That way they will feel refreshed and revitalized and able to get back into the swing of work.

Provide Your Team With Some Space

Remember, your employees have probably spent the majority of their recent lives in your office. Some of your employees may be older or may have adjusted to the quieter atmosphere of work life. This can make a fun center like Dave and Buster's overwhelming and distracting with all the lights and noises. You may also want to do some talks or give a presentation at your corporate event, so make sure that the location you choose has at least one quieter private area where members of your team can escape the excitement for a few brief moments. This also provides you and your company a place for some conversing, as well as some opening and closing remarks. At the very least, the VIP area may make your employees feel fancy and privileged, at least for the duration of the go kart racing event.

Good Food Makes Everything Better

Corporate events in Philadelphia can come in all shapes and sizes. Depending on the size of your company and the event you are planning for, your budgets may vary greatly. But it shouldn’t matter if you are a single family owned shop or a Fortune 500 company. So if you are serious about planning a corporate event in near Philadelphia that your team will love, make sure you provide food. Nothing kills a party vibe more than a bunch of people with low blood sugar, so to consider the food issue to be vital.

Adrian DoggrellThu, 23 Jan 2014 19:30:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:338537http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/320247/How-to-Throw-a-Great-Party-for-Your-Buddies-Take-Them-Go-Kart-Racing#Comments0How to Throw a Great Party for Your Buddies: Take Them Go Kart Racinghttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/320247/How-to-Throw-a-Great-Party-for-Your-Buddies-Take-Them-Go-Kart-Racing
How many of you have been to a party thrown by one of your friends where no one was having any fun? How many of you have been to more than one of these? How many times have you been at one of these parties and thought to yourself, “I could have easily thrown a better get-together than this.” I know I have been in that position tons of times. I have watched my friends get older. Some now even have kids. The sad truth is they are now going to use their subpar fiesta skills to throw parties for their children. I could idly sit by and watch them make mistakes when throwing parties for us, but I cannot watch them go on to ruin their children with a lifetime of disappointing birthdays. Luckily for me, I am now in a position to be able to save other people from making the same mistakes that many of my friends have made because I can tell you the very easy steps to throwing a great party, and I can clue you in to what private party location will blow your friend’s minds. Personally, I prefer taking my friends go kart racing, but there are plenty of other activities that your friends will probably enjoy.

Plan For Your Audience

Not every party is going to be the same. In fact, they should all be quite different. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. They all seem cookie-cutteresque these days. The first step to throwing any great party is to understand your audience. Little kids like games, cake, soda, and ice-cream. Adults are just as simple, but they enjoy other things. The problem is that typical adults find something that works, and then they just stick with it. When we were all around college age, it became the standard to listen to music while hanging around a beer pong table all night. This was fun the first one or two hundred times, but any activity can get stale with age.

Make sure that, whatever is going to be the central activity of your party, you have planned something that people aren’t already burned out on. Children don’t like to go to the Discovery Zone for every party. Twenty year olds don’t like to stand around only playing beer pong, and adults don’t want every get-together to be a dinner party. You need to know what your friends will want to do, and you will need to know what they are already sick of. You should look for a private party location where your friends can relax for a moment while still engaging in an activity that takes them out of their comfort zone.

Food and Booze Is a Must

The older we get, the more our bodies get into a rhythm. We need to eat regularly, and some of us need a drink at a certain point in the night. If you want your buddies to be able to leave all of their worries at home, you need to make sure you provide access to quality food and beer. I am not saying that just because you want to have friends over you are required to shell out for both of these things, but it is absolutely necessary to make sure you guests have access. You could take everyone to a local brewery that allows a plethora of foods to be delivered inside. Or you could take people to a baseball game where they have access to hotdogs and cold ones. I will say, however, that the best parties do provide booze and food, but so long as you simply provide the access, your party can be just fine.

The Best Parties Have a Private Room

When you are out partying with friends, it is always nice to have a private area where you can retreat with your group. In a club, this is called bottle service. At a professional basketball game, you could have your own box. If it is me planning this party, I would rent out one of the event rooms at Speed Raceway for some go kart racing. This private party location is ideal because it is versatile.

Some people are gifted at picking up on the feelings of those around them. If you are the party host, you should try to develop that trait. Try to focus in on what is makes people happy. It is your responsibility to create an environment where they are both relaxed and excited, which isn’t always an easy job. While there are tons of options around town where you can throw a great event, I would seriously recommend go kart racing at Speed Raceway because it is a seriously unique and exciting private party location.

Adrian DoggrellFri, 22 Nov 2013 19:06:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:320247http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/265172/Why-Corporate-Team-Building-Is-Important-for-Your-Company#Comments0Why Corporate Team Building Is Important for Your Companyhttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/265172/Why-Corporate-Team-Building-Is-Important-for-Your-Company
Thanks to the growth of digital communications, the global market, and the ever-increasing specialization and division of labor, modern society has become extremely fluid and dynamic. Individuals are now required to move between many different groups of people in their professional and personal lives. All types of people, from investment bankers to catering staff and musicians, face the same difficulties. The need for techniques to help people adapt to the new requirements and get on well in a new group has never been greater!

The method which is widely applied in various organizations is known as team building. Team building refers to the process of establishing and developing a greater sense of cooperation and trust between team members. Interactive exercises, team assessments, and group discussions enable groups to cultivate this greater sense of teamwork. The proper functioning and successful development of any company or organization largely depends on team efficiency. Good team relationships can make it into a productive group with great morale and motivation. Therefore, team building activities are aimed at improving communication and collaborative skills within and between groups of people working together.

Because corporate events in Philadelphia have to do with cooperation, bridge building, planning, and effective use of resources, the benefits team building activities may bring are countless: improvement in planning skills, problem solving, decision making, time management, friendly competition, personal confidence, morale, etc. Your team can always improve how efficient they are and a great way to start is by putting together an amazing teambuilding event. Just seeing your team interact with each other and learn things that aren't just work-related and have fun doing some activities will help bring everyone together and work better in the office.

Team activities help the team in self-assessment which is very important for improving the ways of further collaboration within the group. Team activities allow for defining the team’s current strengths and weaknesses, identifying any gap between the desired state and the actual state, and designing a gap-closure strategy. Team games and exercises simulating real life situations, like those focused on practicing clear communication and developing keys to trust during challenging and confusing times or learning to accomplish the goal with a tight timeline, are both useful and fun. Learning to work together and act as a team may be enjoyable.

One of the best team building ideas is a trip to an indoor go kart racing track! Split your company into teams and work together to get the best time possible, or race against your boss and blow off some steam! After the race you'll be amazed at the stories people will be sharing and the friendly smacktalk going on between co-workers. Getting everyone to the track and out of the office goes a long way towards building morale and helping everyone bond over a fun activity. Speed Raceway is the perfect place to host your next company party or other corporate events in Philadelphia! Enjoy all the races and get a private room to hold other exercises. Speed Raceway is the only destination you need for your next company team building event!

Nathan MillerSat, 16 Nov 2013 18:24:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:265172http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/334428/Go-Kart-Racing-Makes-for-a-Sick-Birthday-Party#Comments1Go Kart Racing Makes for a Sick Birthday Partyhttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/334428/Go-Kart-Racing-Makes-for-a-Sick-Birthday-Party
The best birthday I ever had was this year. I had nothing planned. I didn’t think I was going to do anything special. I didn’t think anyone realized. I remember being disappointed the week leading up to it. For the first time in many years, my birthday was on a Friday. For the past few years it has bounced around midweek days. Maybe there was a Sunday somewhere in there, but the point is people either had to work or go to school the next day. There wasn’t a whole lot of room to party. This year, however, it could be different. This year, I thought, everyone is going to want to celebrate by doing something fun.

I said that I was disappointed going into my birthday because I hadn’t heard of anything. I didn’t plan a party for myself, hoping some other people would bring it up and have some ideas. Unfortunately, it seemed like all that my having a birthday on the weekend did was make everyone forget about my birthday. Luckily, I wasn’t giving my friends enough credit. They planned a killer day but just opted not to tell me about it until the last minute. I am pretty sure they just wanted to watch me sweat it out. What we ended up doing was great. In fact, it was super awesome. So I am going to use that as the bar for what a great birthday party should be.

Happy Hour Makes for the Happiest Hours

We started off with some happy hour drinks. The guys took me to Punch Bowl Social, and we rented out a bowling lane and ordered some punch bowls. If you aren’t familiar with the place, they are a big adult themed entertainment restaurant and bar. They have many activities and games you can play while sipping fancy giant bowls of sugary and boozy deliciousness.

The place is a little strange, but it is certainly a fun atmosphere, especially on a Friday afternoon. Everyone seems to feel very proud of themselves for being there, like merely knowing about the place gained them membership to an exclusive club. Luckily, I was there to party and hang out with friends, and so I put my socially critical mind in the backseat and proceeded to have a good time. And for some reason, my bowling game was in the zone. I am not usually good at that game, but I was on fire on my birthday, so I was quite happy.

Fill That Need for Speed

The next step was a huge surprise. It was way outside of our ordinary activities. We typically just go to new places to eat and drink. We rarely go to new places do new things. Indoor go kart racing is awesome. I am a big fan of the electric go karts at Speed because used there in part because the whole place is cleaner and smells a lot better but mostly because I think go kart racing is way more intense.

Sure the top speed is faster on the gasoline karts, but that would only matter on a track where you can cruise at top speed. These aren’t NASCAR tracks. They are small and extremely curvy roads where you are constantly letting off the gas to make a sharp turn. Because of this, the improved acceleration on the electric go karts makes these karts way faster. As soon as you hit the gas pedal, if feels like you are back up to top speed right away.

We did three races each. I didn’t come close to getting the fastest lap time in any of them, but we all had an absolute blast. After the go kart racing was over, I assumed so too was the night, but I was wrong. We had dinner plans at one one of my favorite spots.

A Little Bit of Chicken Before We Call it a Night

I am a simple man with simple pleasures. I like a nice warm cup of cocoa on a cold day. I enjoy the sensation of breaking into the top of some crem brulee. I like a nice cozy body to curl up to at night, and I love a good chicken wing. Luckily for me, one of the best chicken wing spots in the city is a couple blocks down from my house. The boys and I capped off the Adrian Birthday Celebrations with a delicious and delightfully unhealthy dinner. Now, I know what you are thinking, it was Friday night! Why didn’t you go out? My friends went on to go downtown and party, but they know that isn’t really my scene, so they politely didn’t make me come with them this time.

Sure this may seem like a lame day to some of you, but to me it was perfect. I love good food, tasty cocktails, and fun activities. My birthday had all of those things, and we got to go do some go kart racing. It was the perfect night, and I didn’t even know it was going to happen. I am very lucky to have such good friends. I should have known they would come through for me, as they always do.

Adrian DoggrellTue, 12 Nov 2013 16:30:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:334428http://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/348587/10-Do-s-and-Don-ts-for-Holiday-Corporate-Events-in-Philadelphia#Comments010 Do’s and Don’ts for Holiday Corporate Events in Philadelphiahttp://gokart.speedraceway.com/blog/bid/348587/10-Do-s-and-Don-ts-for-Holiday-Corporate-Events-in-Philadelphia
The holiday season is fast approaching and the emergence of red and green candy on the store shelves should be your cue to start planning the corporate events in Philadelphia for this year! This party is the biggest of the year provides a virtual minefield of DO’s and DON’Ts when it comes to not only throwing it but planning as well. We here at Speed Raceway know all too well about these familiar mix-ups, miscues and faux pas that happen before and during these parties and would like to provide you with a list of 10 DO’s and DON’Ts for your corporate holiday party this year!

1. DON’T forget to create a budget for the party

First things first, you’ll need to figure out how much money you can and are willing to spend on this fancy party! Knowing you’ll be spending most of it on a venue and food, start to plan out what fits your budget, what your guests will want and what type of options that leaves you with.

2. DO book a venue outside the office

Office parties often attract fewer guests than RSVP’s might promise due to the fact that many people don’t want to spend their evenings off at the office that they work in. Instead, change up the scenery and hold you event at a fun and non-office venue that will interest and excite people more! Whether it’s a restaurant, entertainment center or other fun location, your guests will be much happier compared to making chit-chat right next to their desk.

3. DON’T put off booking the venue until the last minute

Just because you’ve decided that you’ll host your corporate party at an offsite venue doesn’t mean it’s going to magically happen. Set a reminder in your calendar a few months out telling you to locate and book the necessary venue for your party so that you aren’t stuck scrambling to find a proper location and paying extra for last minute concessions.

4. DO provide food and drink

If you’re going to attract your entire office to a night of mingling with each other and their spouses, you better be serving food and drink. While you may not need to go provide a full 4 course meal for everyone there, you should definitely have some kind of finger food to snack on. Whether you make this in house or hire a caterer is entirely up to you and your budget, but make sure that there is sufficient food and alcoholic drinks for everyone there to tide them over for the night.

5. DON’T let workers consumer too much alcohol

Just because you’re cool and provide alcohol does not mean that you leave the responsible drinking of your coworkers up to chance. If you feel you must, limit the number of drinks for each person or amount available at the party to ensure that everyone stays safe and doesn’t make a fool of themselves. This type of alcohol monitoring may not be the way your company would like to handle this so there always…

6. DO provide transportation options (to and from)

Transportation options to and from the venue are a must for your corporate holiday party. Not only will you need to give directions, carpooling and parking options to all of your guests when it comes to getting to your party but you will want to consider how all of your guests will get home, especially if some of them have overindulged themselves. Having taxi options, assigning designated drivers and paying for hotel rooms are just a few ways that you and your company can keep your employees safe while avoiding any kind of incidents regarding alcohol, your employees and driving.

7. DON’T forget decorations

After taking all the time to find and book a venue away from your office, don’t forget to dress the place up for the party with some fun decorations that remind your guests why they’re there! Paper snowflakes hanging from the ceiling, brightly colored table cloths and festive streamers are just a few ideas when it comes to decorating your party!

8. DO bring appropriate party music

An iPod and large speakers is all you really need now-in-days for party music, but don’t just leave it at that! While you may not need to hire a DJ anymore, creating an appropriate playlist to last you the entire night is needed. Holiday music is always a good choice, along with popular and trending music so long as it isn’t too edgy or controversial.

9. DON’T forget fun activities

Getting together for corporate events in Philadelphia during the holidays doesn't have to be a bore, but eating and making small talk with everyone can only take up so much of a night, so go ahead and plan out fun events throughout the party to keep people entertained. White elephant, Secret Santa and other holiday-themed activities are great ways to get everyone all together having fun and can kill large portions of time if planned correctly.

10. DO have fun!

Last and most important of all is to have fun as the party planner! You’ve spent countless hours preparing every aspect of this party and you can easily get caught up in making sure that everything runs smoothly and that everyone else has a good time, but you will need to come to a realization. There isn’t much you can do once the party is set in motion, some people may not have as good of a time as planned and some things might not work out like you saw them in your head. Once you come to accept these things, then you can relax and start to enjoy yourself because remember, it is a party!

Planning corporate events in Philadelphia can be a tricky business. Knowing how to properly plan the different aspects of it are not easy, so why not get a little help from these DO’s and DON’Ts as well as our Corporate Event Planning Checklist so that you don’t forget a thing! Trust us, your guests will thank you for it!

Marc HerschbergerFri, 08 Nov 2013 15:30:00 GMTf1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:348587
